The–almost–weekly writing update.
Week 34, 2023
Chisel, chisel chisel … imagine that as the sound of me chiseling away on the manuscript and the sound of the chisel chiseling away on my resilience! Last week saw a lot of things going on all at once. I know … that is not news that is olds. I am busy juggling artwork for my stockists and the revisions on Book 2 all while getting the 2nd edition of Book on out. And … well, my day-job.
The House, The Spheres Book Two
I decided to move one plot branch from The House into Book 3. It means more edits in the 3rd revision, but it just felt like the right thing to do. And yes, I absolutely underestimated how hard it would to get Book 2 written and publication-ready in just one year. It might seems madness, seeing that we are almost in September, but I still haven’t given up on the December deadline!
Progress in numbers
Word count total— 106,000
Words revised total— 49,000
Words revised last week 3,000 (… AGAIN! I don’t want to talk about it … )
Planned Release December 2023 (… maybe? potentially? possibly? … )
The Fragments, The Spheres Book One – 2nd edition
I just had submitted the 2nd edition files for publication when I realised that I didn’t update the copyright page—or the cover—with the new ISBN … ARGH! Anyways, these things will happen! KDP quickly noticed this as well and I can update the files now. Should still work out for Thursday!
We wouldn’t do this if it would be easy, right?
New here? I am New Zealand-based writer, artist and maker Minu Freitag. I have published my first book—The Fragments, an inventive mix of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Dystopian fiction—in 2022 and am currently working on the second book in The Spheres Series—The House—due for release in the first half of 2025.
