Who we are

Welcome to htts://www.minu.co.nz, a website hosted by myHost in New Zealand and operated by New Zealand based artist and writer Minu Freitag.

What we collect

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, and optional account information like username and password. We also collect personal information about you during the checkout process on our store including

  • Your name, contact details, shipping and billing information address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!
  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
  • Any interactions with us on this site or via email.

Personal data might also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third party embeds, see specific policies below.

Why we collect your data

We’ll collect this information for purposes, such as, to

  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Set up your account for our store
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings
  • Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them
  • Improve this site and our product and services

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

Payments

Credit card payments

We do not collect or store your credit card details. Payments are processed by Stripe Payments New Zealand and to process the payments Stripe will collect data from you. Their Privacy Policy includes important information about your personal data and we encourage you to read it carefully.

Cookies

We use cookies on our website to allow the site to work and to collect analytics data to gain insights on how to improve the user experience. We will never sell your data or pass it on to third parties. By clicking “Accept” on the cookie pop-up, you consent to the use of ALL the cookies.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site. Our payment provider will also set cookies, see Payments.

Embedded content from other websites

This site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

Besides our staff, your shipping and contact information is shared with NZPost to fulfil your order and is subject to their privacy policy. See also the section on Payments.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

We use third party software such as accounting software, customer relationship management and marketing automation software that holds your information, sometimes overseas. Where we uses third parties to undertake services, we may provide those third parties with some of your information if it is required to fulfil those services. We require any third party to undertake strict precautions to protect your information against unauthorised use or disclosure.

How long we retain your data

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for up to 10 years for tax and accounting purposes.

After we no longer require to keep your data, we securely destroy it by erasing your data from our current database. Your data might be kept in secure back-ups for an unlimited time. Access to back-ups is restricted to technical personal and our hosting company.

What rights you have over your data

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact us.

Complaints

If you feel we have broken any of these rules — even accidentally — you may make a complaint under the Privacy Act.

Third part services

Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to access basic insights and improve the user experience of our website. Please see the Google Analytics privacy policy for more information on how your data is processed.

Facebook pixel

This site uses a Facebook pixel: a small piece of JavaScript code to order to optimise our ads, report on conversions across devices and create Custom Audiences of website visitors to use in Facebook ads. Read more about Facebook pixels and privacy on the Facebook website.

The Minu Newsletter

The minu newsletter is provided by Campaign Monitor, you can read more about their privacy policy for subscribers on their website.

External online shops

If you buy minu artwork online via minu.Etsy.com your data will be held at these services, and you can read the relevant privacy policy on their websites.
