Monday Writing Update—Jan 2, 2022

Another week. Another update.

New Writing Challenge—Shut up and write 2023

Online challenges can be fun and grow audiences, but I haven’t found a writing challenge that gets high engagement and works for me … yet … . So I decided to start one! Based on Natalie Goldberg’s timeless advice ‘to shut up and write’, I suggest a #shutupandwrite2023 challenge. Just define your goal for 2023, split it into feasible milestones and … well shut up and write!

Want to join? Just tag your post with #shutupandwrite2023, and let me know what you are up to!

My goals for 2023 include the paperback release for The House, The Spheres – Book two this year. I am aiming for December 2023. This doesn’t leave me much time, so I will set my 2023 writing challenges around a rough publication timeline.

The Fragments, Trade Paperback Edition

Goal 1 – Complete the first draft of The House by the end of February.

The first milestone is to complete the first draft in February 2023. The Manuscript is currently at 62k words, and I expect the first draft to be around 100k words. Skipping weekends and holidays, I’ll need to write about 900 words daily (about two pages). This should be doable … .

Yay!
