Shrines big and small–Ohatsu Tenjin Shrine
We have seen some amazing ancient shrines in Japan, but I loved the less famous, little shrines hidden in the middle of modern cities. They are places of real magic. You step through the gate and the city fades into the background and you are in another world. To me it is almost like many of the shrines worship stories—in this case an ancient story of doomed love. Today many young people still come to this place to pray for love and happiness in their relationships. And for beauty or babies … or all of the above :).
