The pace is picking up ever so slowly.

Small Steps and Sticky Words
Book Three, The Spheres (working title)
I have officially started the first rough draft of the manuscript!
I don’t regret the time invested in outlining, even though it didn’t come easily to me. But when I sat down to write, panic sat in: how did I ever do this before? How do I arrange words into sentences, sentences into paragraphs, paragraphs into scenes, scenes into chapters, chapters into … I think you get the drift.
I reminded myself to just shut up and write. Allow yourself to be bad at it. Polishing comes later.
I miss Reesa. Reesa was so easy to write. Gwyston is the next best thing, so I started with his prologue. I can’t say the words flowed freely; they moved like rubber over hot asphalt—sticky and completely unsteerable. But there they are. I’ve added the second prologue and started the opening scene for chapter one. None of them are masterpieces, but it’s a start.
Onwards and upwards!
Book Two, The House (locally printed edition)
Getting the illustrations for Book Two onto paper is proving to be similarly painful. However, three out of the five part-title pages are officially done. Thank the skies!

Other book news
Currently reading/listening?
I loved, loved, loved Lives of Bitter Rain, by Adrian Tchaikovsk so much that I gave Children of Time a second try. I still don’t love it as much as The Tyrant Philosophers Series, but I finished it within a week—it is an amazing read. Just started: Days of Shattered Faith, The Tyrant Philosophers #3 and the audiobook edition of Platform Decay, The Murderbot Diaries #8, by Martha Wells.
That’s about it for now. More soon (づ ᴗ _ᴗ)づ♡

New here? I write adult fantasy that sits somewhere between dystopia, post-apocalyptic fiction, and science fiction—complex, a little dark, unapologetically nerdy.
I’ve published two books in a trilogy called The Spheres—The Fragments (2022), The House (2025)—and am working on Book Three. If you enjoyed this post, why not sign up to my newsletter or get a free review copy?
