Writing Update, March 2026 #AmWriting

Amidst all the art chaos — some writing got done.

Trying to make progress on the maps and illustrations for The House while working on Book Three and the audiobook edition for The Fragments sounds like a terrible idea—and it looks even worse in writing. But trying to dip in and out of these projects with weeks in between makes it impossible to keep any momentum.

And, running projects in parallel and chipping away at small, manageable tasks is actually working. Progress might be slow, but it is consistent.

Book Two, The House—Paperback edition

The KDP paperback edition is next on the list for The House, along with a locally printed New Zealand edition. Both are still missing the final cover jacket, the maps, and the illustrations — which is… more work than it sounds.

I’m starting with the maps. Partly because they need to exist before the illustrations can reference them, and partly because illustrations feel like the harder thing, so I’m saving that particular dread for later.

If you want to follow along, you can catch the process at I got this, Part 2—The House Paperback edition #AmWriting and/or sign up to the newsletter.

Book One, The Fragments—Audiobook edition(s)

The work on the audiobook edition of The Fragments is coming along, and I’ll have some exciting news to share in April, so stay tuned!

Book Three, Outline and Structure

I spent the last few weeks taking stock and resetting my approach for tackling Book Three and experimenting with more efficient ways to write. I’ve got two books in a three-book series that I’m dying to finish without repeating the mistakes I made in Book 2. I need a structured system that helps me write in a more grounded framework and walks me through to the end of the trilogy. I don’t want to fight a strident, formulaic process; I want to work with a creative, flexible set of tools.

I’ll be documenting the process as it unfolds, you can follow along at Secret Projects, Part 1—The making of The Spheres, Book Three #AmWriting and/or sign up to the newsletter.

That’s all for this update.

More coming soon (づ ᴗ _ᴗ)づ♡
