Mad scramble to the finish line
A late December 2025 check-in! It’s all been a bit of a blur. I had to scramble madly to get the eBook release of The House out in time! Everything else was kind of background noise until the week of Xmas where I had a few hours to reset and think about what is next in 2026—more about that soon!
The end of big projects always comes with a kind of recoil—it’s like the ground beneath your feet is pulled away and you are left hanging in empty air. I tend to rush forward and bury myself in the next big thing before I start second-guessing everything. Lucky for me there is so much lined up, I don’t even have time to look down.
Art
The Diamonds show at Quirky Fox opened—one of my small paintings and a few critters found a new home! Yay! Sales via galleries and my amazing stockists picked up because of the Xmas rush, and—with the eBook release done—I finally started on new ideas and critters for the Wellington Art Show!
Writing
The eBook edition of The House is now available! I have penciled in the KDP paperback and New Zealand local trade paperback release for April/May 2026. I am also making plans for Book Three, which I hope will be a less challenging journey :). I restarted my ideal reader campaign and reworked some of the promotional material for social media, and I am quite happy with the direction.
Renovations
Not much has happened around the renovations. The next projects feel daunting, and I need to get my head around how I am going to tackle them!
So … I guess December has come and gone, and I am still here!

New here? I am New Zealand-based writer, artist and maker Minu Freitag.
