Minu takes a break!

All minu online shops will be closed from July 26 to September 12, 2011. The shops will re-open in September with many new products and prints, including the art(work) from the “Fragments…” show. Curious? There are some images up on Flickr.

I will be going to Germany to spend some time with my family and researching new fabrics and materials for toys. I will be back in early September, relaxed and full of creative energy!

So stay tuned, more updates coming in September  ^_ ^ …

minu in Stuffed Magazine, Winter 2011

In July 2010 Stuffed Magazine invited me to submit a set of creatures for an article in their Winter 2011 issue. I was thrilled and so the Bear, Schlaf and the Viech were joined by the Shadow Girl and the Shadow Bunny on their adventurous journey to California.

A couple of days ago I got the final proof that their journey came to a good end: my complimentary copy of Stuffed Magazine! Yay.

The Fragile Shadow prints are finally available online at minu.felt.co.nz , minu.etsy.com and minu.dawanda.de… and even better: they available for only NZ $98.00, (US $ 76.00, €60.00) 20% under the recommended retail price! The Online Special will end on January 24th, 2011.

The Strong New Zealand Dollar and Price Rises on etsy and DaWanda

The product and shipping prices on minu.etsy.com and minu.dawanda.de will rise on December 1st, 2010 :-(.

When I first started selling on minu.etsy.com in January 2009 1 US dollar bought approximately 1.85 New Zealand Dollars. Today 1 US dollar buys approximately 1.30 New Zealand Dollars. This means I get over 30% less for my toys and prints once the currencies are converted. The Euro lost around 12%.

In addition to the loss in currency values, shipping from New Zealand and packaging materials are more expensive today.

I have not changed my prices on minu.etsy.com or minu.dawanda.de in the last 24 month. I always wanted my creations to be affordable, but I can not avoid significant price rises any longer. This will hit the plush creatures especially hard.

I am really sorry.

However! There are some good news as well: It is now possible to generate vouchers on etsy, so there will be more sales and vouchers in the future.

minu workshop “Drypoint on Perspex” @ Inverlochy Art School

‘How is that done?’ I do get this question quite a lot ^_^…

I think it might be time for my first weekend printmaking workshop ‘Drypoint on Perspex’! The workshop will take place at Inverlochy Art School here in Wellington.

I have a couple of ideas what might be interesting for you, but I am keen to hear your ideas as well. We will have space for 6 to 8 people. If you are interested please fill in this little questionnaire.

Everything is totally non-committal for now. I will send further information to everyone at the start of November.

Coffee32, 32 The Terrace, Wellington hosts a ‘Fragile Shadow‘ Preview exhibition from July 19 to 23, 2010. 2 works on paper are on display and available for $240 NZ.

Many thanks again to Marg and Own the lovely owners of Coffee32. We already agreed on 2 more mini exhibitions in August and October so watch this place!
