The Archival Fine Art Prints (also called Giclée) are printed on an ultra high resolution printer using pigment based inks on Fine Art Paper (300g/sqm, 100% rag, fine grain, bright white) providing a highly durable ‘museum quality’ Fine Art reproduction.
The prints are digital interpretations of my acrylic paintings for the ‘Awoke’ series. They are based on scans of the original sketches and coloured digitally.

I have been thinking about continuing the Miyu series for a long time. The image of those peaceful girls, constraint in layers and layers of cloth is ever present in my mind.
I always saw those as a symbol for being caught in layers of expectations and self restraint. Like being caught and stuck, not able to act anymore, only the hair – as a kind of spiritual manifestation – still able to move or be moved – a very personal statement of my last years in Germany.
Funnily enough the first people who viewed the prints in 2006/7 saw something totally different in them. The girls were protected, securely wrapped, warm and peaceful…

The first drypoint experiments were received very positive by friends, so I felt encouraged to pick up the work again.
I hope you enjoy them…
The first 2 prints are available online at etsy, felt and dawanda

The Bear is now available online on minu.felt.co.nz* for $60.00 NZ, on minu.etsy.com** for $36.00 US and on minu.dawanda.de*** for €32.00!
The bear is the perfect companion. He is cuddly and cute, listens patiently, is generous with hugs and sometimes – very rarely though – he shares his pot of honey.
These handmade cuties are about 26 cm tall. The fabric is a very special, fluffy and cuddly straight pile cotton, the stuffing 100% Polyfill. The little face and paws are wool felt with machine stitched eyes and nose.
They won’t go in the washing machine, but a bath in cold water with shampoo is fine. Never ever bring them near a dryer.
Height: 26 cm (10.2 inch)
Fabric: cotton (wool felt)
Filling: 100% Polyfill
Hand-wash in cold water only
Do not tumble
Do not dry

‘Sleeping under the trees’ – paper cut detail
Cafe32, 32 The Terrace, Wellington hosts another minu mini exhibition from April 12 to 16, 2010. 2 brand new paper cuts from the awoke series are on display and available for $280 NZ.
What would I do without the local support here in Wellington?! Many thanks again to Marg and Own the lovely owners of cafe32. We are planing to do this regularly every 6 to 8 weeks. This is a awesome occasion for me to present new work and a challenge to get things done.

The moon rose over the sea – paper cut framed
The artwork is drawn by hand in ink and water colour, scanned and digitally processed. The scene is printed in layers using a Giclée fine art printer and digital water colour paper. The different layers are cut and assembled in a ‘frame-box’.
Giclée is a high quality ink-jet print using a special print head and 9 pigment based inks. It is often used in galleries and print shops. The prints have brilliant, lightfast colours and the paper is archival.

Viech {n} [ugs.] creature… so much for the dictionary.
Almost 3.5 years after the first prototype Viech actually went into production and is now for sale.
Viech is very cuddly and cute, but be aware! Viecher (pl) are not aware of their own strength, have no idea about the sharpness of their claws, are clumsy, do horrendously stupid things and afterward look at you with their black innocent eyes and start ‘but I just ….’
These handmade cuties are about 26 cm tall with another 10 cm of ear length. The fabric is a very special, fluffy and cuddly straight pile cotton, the stuffing 100% Polyfill. The little face is wool felt with machine stitched eyes.

The new Schlafs come without the plastic pellets in the filling. Small fabric scraps are adding some weight to the ears and legs, and give babies something to chew on ^_^…
So other than the risk of Schlaf waking up – while you are asleep – rummaging through the house and tugging your ears, you and the very little ones are save.
